Stuart Macleod - In Memory of the King

“TOP CANADIAN TRIBUTE ARTIST, WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI, 2002/2003 (PENTICTON ELVIS FESTIVAL)

Stuart was born in Vancouver, B.C. and raised on Vancouver Island in the Parksville area. This is where his passion for music was first revealed. It started with his mother’s love for Elvis and developed into a style of old graffiti, rock-a-billy and country music.

He first saw a tribute to Elvis in the mid 80’s and something clicked. Stuart knew he had the impressive singing talent and could perform the crucial moves required. After a four day audition, he signed with a show called, “Elvis, Elvis, Elvis”. This show covered the three eras of Elvis’ career and Stuart played the 1968 version of the King. For two years, he crooned movie songs and ballads with the tour, which took him to exotic locales in Asia and all over North America. Recently, he has also performed with such greats as the Jordanaires, Bobby Curtola and the legendary ‘Twister’, Chubby Checker.

“that was the best rendition of ‘How Great Thou Art’ I have heard in a long time”, Ray Walker of the Jordanaires, 2003 With 15 years of performing to his credit, Stuart now performs solo with his own show, “In Memory of the King”, thrilling audiences. He performs at private parties and public events singing favorites from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Differing from other Elvis tribute artists, Stuart prefers to let his sincerity hold center stage. Watching him perform is a lesson in endurance. After musical sets of snarling lips and swiveling hips, three costume changes and a bucket of sweat, Stuart will often remove his Elvis gear and prove that his guitar is more than just a prop by treating the audience to live acoustic music.
